Harnessing Python for Robotic Arm Control: Simplifying Automation

Early in December 2024, DISTED College hosted an event called the BM and Sejarah SPM 2024 Seminar Class. During the event, the School of Computing and Engineering presented how Python coding can be used to control a robotic arm for specified purposes. Recent years have witnessed a tremendous increase in the field of robotics, with robotic arms becoming essential to sectors such as research, industry, and healthcare.
Path planning and feedback control are critical components in operating a robotic arm. One of the key phases is path planning, which outlines the intended course that the end effector should take. The subsequent step is Inverse Kinematics, which determines the joint angles required to move the end effector along the designated path. To ensure smooth and precise movement, the control system employs algorithms such as PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) control.
Python provides a robust and user-friendly foundation for manipulating robotic arms. Its simplicity and extensive library ecosystem make it an excellent choice for researchers, industry professionals, and robotics enthusiasts.
