Student Counselling
DISTED Counselling services aim to help and support students in exploring academic, social, personal potentials and resolving difficulties. All counsellors are certified and registered with the Malaysian Board of Counsellors.
The services are free, confidential, and available to all DISTED students.
There are four types of services offered as follows: –
- Individual Counselling
This service helps a student to resolve difficulties that can hamper his daily life as a college student. It is a process by which a counselor assists a client to face, understand, and accept information about himself and his interaction with others so that he can make effective decisions about various life choices.
- Group Counselling
This service helps the members of the group to resolve their worries. Group counseling is conducted with peers who are going through similar experiences such as learning, career, personal, or homogenous problems.
- Guidance and Support Sessions
The sessions are more likely to be one-off sessions where students can get immediate support with whatever they are encountering.
- Administration of Counselling Inventories as follows:
- Career Interest Inventory – It provides insight into career orientation and preferences with the most fitting professional fields and career paths for students.
- Personality Inventory – It helps students to uncover their interests, preferences, emotional make-up, skills, and style of interacting with people and situations.
