In addition to its existing diplomas, DISTED also delivers the BTEC – Business & Technology Education Council Level 5 Higher National Diploma (HND). It is the only institution of higher learning in north Malaysia fully endorsed by Edexcel to exclusively offer the BTEC HND qualification in Business Studies, Accounting, Hospitality Business Management, Engineering, Computer Science and Creative Multimedia.
The BTEC HND Advantages
DISTED’s Diploma in Accounting programme provides cutting-edge knowledge and practical techniques of accounting, finance, management, auditing, law, taxation and accounting information system. Students will learn to prepare and maintain a full set of accounts for small and medium-sized organisations, and will be competent in using international computerised accounting software.
The programme builds a solid stepping stone into diverse employment opportunities in the areas of accounting, finance and management including management accounting, financial accounting, auditing, forensic accounting, management consultancy and corporate finance.
Upon completion, students can articulate into the second year of a 3+0 Staffordshire University (UK) business degree at DISTED or progress to ACCA Qualification studies with 3 paper exemptions at DISTED, which leads to globally recognised professional accountancy status.
The typical course units, totalling 90 to 91 credits, are as follows:
Students are required to complete the compulsory General Studies prescribed by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
40% coursework and 60% examination
Duration of Study
Intakes are available as follows:
January, March or August – 4 long and 2 short semesters over 2 years.
May or September – 4 long and 3 short semesters over 2 years and 2 months.
SPM: 3 credits including Mathematics and a Pass in English
IGCSE O-Level: 3 credits including Mathematics and a Pass in English
UEC: 3 credits (Grade B) including Mathematics and a Pass in English
Other equivalent qualifications recognised by the Malaysian Government.
