272 graduates took centre stage in DISTED College’s 25th Convocation Ceremony, which was held at the Equatorial Hotel, Penang on May 28. The event, which is splendidly celebrated, would see these students being conferred their diplomas and degrees in various disciplines.
DISTED’s 25th Convocation Ceremony started with opening speeches by Chairman of DISTED Board of Directors, Dato’ Seri Stephen Yeap and President & CEO Dr Seah Soo Aun.
This year’s convocation ceremony saw Dean of the Faculty of Business, Education & Law, Professor Susan Foreman representing the Staffordshire University (United Kingdom) to present the scrolls to the 7th cohort of 91 graduates receiving their prestigious honours degree programmes of BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance, BA (Hons) Business Management, BA (Hons) International Business Management, BA (Hons) Marketing Management, and BSc (Hons) Business Information Systems Management.
The 25th ceremony also witnessed the inaugural batch of nine (9) graduates from DISTED’s collaboration with HELP University, being conferred with its renowned Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) degree by the Vice Chancellor of HELP University, Professor Dato Dr Zakaria bin Ahmad.
Meanwhile, 181 students received their DISTED diplomas in accounting, business studies, business information technology, computer science, creative multimedia production, and hospitality business management.
Amongst those who graduated include 5 students from Thailand, Indonesia and China. One of them, Muliana Harefa of Indonesia, received her Certificate in Intensive English for having completed the 1½-year Intensive English programme at DISTED, while another international student – Chayakorn Suwannachot of Thailand, was being conferred with Diploma in Hospitality Business Management.
Tan Wen Chien, who obtained the BA (Hons) Marketing Management, was also the degree programme valedictorian, while Iver Tan Jia Chuen, the best graduating student with Diploma in Business Studies from DISTED, was the valedictorian for diploma programme during the 25th convocation ceremony.
