What makes a great barista? Ever wondered what it’s like to be a coffee connoisseur? The answer lies within the Professional Barista Course currently being offered by LiFE Academy in partnership with Forest Cloud Coffee Company.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between the two companies took place at Forest Cloud Coffee Company’s premise on 23rd August 2018 with the highlight being the launching of LiFE Academy’s Professional Barista course to provide a platform for beginners and seasoned baristas to widen and refresh their skill and knowledge within the coffee industry.
Dr Seah Soo Aun, President and CEO of DISTED College, representing LiFE Academy and Mr Kaiho Aw, Managing Director of Forest Cloud Sdn Bhd initiated the agreement.
With this MoU, LiFE Academy and DISTED School of Hospitality Management stands in a good position to benefit from the professional insight Forest Cloud has to offer into the academic syllabus and other professional courses offered by LiFE Academy.
Forest Cloud Coffee Company is a multidisciplinary venture capital that specializes in the coffee industry and is one of the biggest coffee product and equipment wholesalers in Penang and currently supplies to over 330 cafés in and around the island.
While brewing a kappa with a fancy coffee machine may make one feel like a barista, the reality of it is much more complicated than that. The Professional Barista course is carefully designed to cater to a variety of needs from brewing skills, bean knowledge to operating commercial coffee machines.
The course comprises of three different categories mainly the City & Guilds Barista Skills Level 2, Barista Pro Course and Barista Essentials. The 10-day Barista Skills Level 2 by City & Guilds provides the craft, skills and knowledge required for a professional barista to excel in the field of coffee brewing. Next the 3-day Barista Pro Course is ideal for beginners with little to no experience to gain in-depth knowledge on the journey of becoming a certified barista. Last and certainly not least, the 1-day Barista Essentials, an express class specially designed for individuals who seek a basic understanding about coffee culture would be ideal for those keen to explore the world of coffee brewing.
In celebration of the partnership between LiFE Academy and Forest Cloud, a special introductory rebate up to RM600 is being offered to individuals who wish to register for these programmes.
