The annual dinner of DISTED College was held on Saturday, 30 November 2019 at the stylish G Hotel, Penang. The theme was “Denim and White”.

Social hour began at 6.30pm with the first 40 early birds who received a special gift. Dinner started of at 7.30pm. The night was filled with fun, laughter, and pleasant surprises. This dinner also served as farewell dinner for Dr Seah Soo Aun, the President and CEO of DISTED College.

Dr Seah gave a speech which was very sentimental and thanked all the staff members for the great opportunity he had shared with them during his years of service at DISTED College.

During the dinner, some of the staff received the long service awards for their contributions towards the organisation. In addition, there were games for ice breaking, lucky-draw prizes and door gifts for all staff members.

Nine deserving staff members were presented with the long service awards, Geong Chooi Peng from School of Pre-U was awarded with 25 years-long service award. Other recipients include:

Chan Wye Kok (School of Hospitality and Culinary Arts)– 10 Years

Lee Seong (Maintenance, Facilities and Security)– 10 Years

 

 

The night was packed with surprising performances, by talented staff members , dedicated to Dr Seah’s farewell. Firdaus from IT Management and Service’s, carried out a magic card manipulation performance, next there was a live song performance carried out by the School of Computing and Engineering. The song was “Memories” by Maroon 5 performed by Luqman who played the guitar together with a duet performance by  Zaki and Khairu Nisa. Jesscia from Student Affairs Unit performed live singing “Hero” by Maria Carey dedicated to all staff members. Last but not least, a dance performance by School of Hospitality and Culinary Arts.

Judging from the amount of laughter and noise, everyone had a good time actively participating in all the games.

The lucky draw was also highly anticipated. Happily, everyone walked away with a prize but what was more exciting was Teoh Kheng Hong from Marketing and Recruitment walked away with the Grand Prize of 40’ TV Sharp.

Other winning recipients included Nurul Nadia from School of Hospitality and Culinary for female category and Zaki from School of Computing and Engineering for male category who walked away with the “Best Dressed Winner” title. Table Game Winner went to the staff members of table number 10. They blew their balloons the fastest and had collected the correct colour balloons.

Before the night was wrapped, a bidding good-bye video was projected featuring staff members who extended their best wishes to Dr Seah. Last but not least, a hand-made farewell card with staff members acknowledgment and wishes was presented to Dr Seah.

The evening was a memorable one and all staff members who attended the dinner looked forward to joining the annual dinner next year.
