On Saturday, 30th October 2021, DISTED College held its 29th convocation. This pre-recoded ceremony celebrated the graduation of both year 2020 and 2021 cohorts, and included a total of 525 graduands in the areas of, accounting, business, computer science, creative multimedia, engineering, English language, hospitality management, and information technology and marketing.  In addition to the 330 DISTED College graduands, 164 bachelor graduates from Staffordshire University UK and 31 from HELP University received their degrees. Dato’ Seri (Dr) Stephen Yeap Leong Huat, Chairman of DISTED College Board of Directors, officiated the ceremony and congratulated the graduating classes of 2020/2021.

 

 

Professor Dr Brian Imrie, the DISTED Chief Executive Officer, commented within his convocation address that DISTED College has a 34-year history of delivering quality, accessible, higher education. This is accomplished through a continued commitment to “investing in people, processes, industry relevant programmes, infrastructure, and building linkages with industry and the wider community”. He commented further that despite the challenges of studying during the pandemic that “25% of our Staffordshire University UK bachelor degree graduates received first class honors within their respective specializations.” This is a testament to the dedicated team of academics who have innovated their teaching delivery to ensure the academic success of our students.

 

 

The valedictorian for this year’s Convocation was Ms. Diana Grace A/P Raymond Patrick, who obtained First Class Honours in a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Accounting and Finance degree from Staffordshire University. She was also the recipient of the Chairman’s Trophy in acknowledgement that she was the Best Graduating Degree Student. She attributed her academic success to DISTED’s learning environment. “DISTED gave me the opportunity of develop my education and provided me with a safe learning environment, a dedicated staff, and an encouraging atmosphere” she said. Meanwhile, Ms. Law Jolyn, a graduate in Diploma in Business Studies with a CGPA of 3.95, was the recipient of the President’s Trophy as Best Graduating Diploma Student.
