The DISTED College’s 28th Convocation and Appreciation Dinner were held recently to recognise the completion and studies for DISTED’s students in their Certificate, Diploma and Degree programmes. .
Held at a leading hotel in Penang, the annual convocation dinner event also recognises the contribution and support by members of its industry advisory panel, academic partners, collaborative partners, external examiners and various individuals associated with DISTED throughout the years.
The event was attended by guest-of-honour YB Tuan Phee Boon Poh, the State Welfare, Caring Society and Environment Committee Chairman. Other distinguished guests included Chairman of DISTED’s Board of Directors, Dato Seri (Dr.) Stephen Yeap, and members of the Board, Dr Seah Soo Aun, President and CEO of DISTED College, Honourable Dato’ AR. Yew Tung Seang, Datuk Bandar, YB Tuan Chris Lee Chun Kit, elected State Assemblyman of Pulau Tikus, Professor Ieuan Ellis, Pro Vice Chancellor for Partnerships and Region representing Staffordshire University, UK and Professor Datuk Dr Paul Chan, Vice Chancellor and President of HELP University.
Dr Seah officiated the event by acknowledging the support of those in attendance, especially towards Staffordshire University and HELP University who are long standing partners with DISTED. He also thanked the many industry leaders, academic members, education partners as well as high school principals and teachers for their support to DISTED.
“With all your support, DISTED has successfully groomed more than 10,000 alumni throughout its 32 years of existence, and has given them the foundation to become productive members of society,” Dr Seah said.
Dr Seah also congratulated the graduands and top achievers at this year’s convocation. He acknowledged their outstanding achievements and remarkable personal growth. “Your outstanding achievement will echo throughout your lives and I have no doubt that you will excel in your future roles and contribute to the well-being of the society,” Dr Seah said.
He also added, that the success of these students are not achieved solely through their own effort but with the support of DISTED’s dedicated lecturers, support services and partners of DISTED which culminate to the success the students enjoy today.
Also present was YB Phee, he presented his word of wisdom and congratulated the graduating students. “Graduating from your tertiary studies is one of your biggest achievements in your life, it’s the pinnacle of one chapter in your life and the beginning of another great chapter for new achievements,” he continued.
Other event highlights included the presentation of Performance Awards to DISTED Education Partners by Mr Andy Tai, Head of Marketing & Communications and presentation of the Certificate of Appreciation to DISTED’s Industry Advisors and Academic Panels members by Dr Jerry Koay, Director of Academic Affairs.
