DISTED School of Pre-University (Pre-U) hosted its inaugural mathematical Olympiad (DMO) for secondary schools in Penang. The competition was well received with fourteen (14) schools confirming their participation. The purpose of the competition was to provide an important opportunity to encourage youth to solve challenging mathematical problems.
Team Champion SMJK Chung Ling of Elvis Yeap, Low Zhen Xuen, Brandon, Yeoh Zi Song and Tan Chin Peng won cash prize, trophies, certificate of participant and DISTED Scholarship worth RM20,000. First runner up of team category went to Wong Jer Ren, Lee Kuan Liang, Lai Wei Siang and Lim Swee Keong from SMJK Chung Ling Butterworth and walked away cash prize, trophies and certificate of participation. The third place went to Team SMJK Chung Hwa of Khaw lin Koon, Teoh Ming Wei, Lee Yi Xuan and Chew Shao Qian.
Next the Champion for individual category went to Yeoh Zi Song from SMJK Chung Ling. He won cash prize, a trophy, a certificate of participant and DISTED Scholarship worth RM10,000. Second place went to Tan Chin Peng from SMJK Chung Ling and walked away cash prize, a trophy, a certificate of participant and Koay Yi Ting from Han Chiang High School won third place and walked away cash prize, a trophy and a certificate of participant.
