Remarks from the President

Our Academic Year 2026 began with orientation programmes, and this week, more tutorials, workshops, and symposiums have commenced. In addition, our external community programmes focusing on soft skills, power skills, and service skills have also begun.

At DISTED College, our students’ academic development is a top priority to ensure they acquire the knowledge needed for success. We also emphasise the development of leadership, decision-making, and empathy through soft and power skills to nurture well-rounded individuals. Alongside this, we equip our students with industry relevance and practical experience to support a smooth and timely transition into their chosen careers.

The first mentor meetings of the year will begin next week. These sessions aim to help students set their goals for the year and provide a supportive space to share concerns and receive guidance.

We wish the DISTED community a wonderful, successful, and fulfilling year ahead.

A Lecturer’s New Year Resolution

This year I vow to guide, not scare,

The consequences all students bear,

Those who submit assignments late,

Patience shall be my steady trait.

Last minute marking, deadlines near,

I swear to look at the bigger picture,

Beyond the grades, examination and test,

I’ll nurture kindness and give my best.

ATAR scores of eighty and more,

Experiences count beyond the score,

Scores may rise, scores may fall,

Each child’s worth outshines them all.

To shape not marks, but hearts that grow,

With wisdom, grace, the seeds I sow,

This year, my pledge is clear, profound,

To lift each soul where light is found.

Year-End Appreciation for Our Psychology Club Members

As we step into 2026, I would like to take a moment to reflect on 2025 and express my sincere appreciation to our Psychology Club members. The past year was one to cherish, marked by growth, learning, and meaningful connections. Each member contributed dedication, warmth, and enthusiasm, and witnessing our development together was truly rewarding.

Throughout the year, engaging discussions and collaborative activities helped foster a strong sense of community within the club. These shared experiences encouraged learning beyond the classroom while building genuine connections among members. Our year-end gathering stood out as a meaningful highlight, offering an opportunity to reflect on how far we had come and how supportive

this close-knit community had become. It was a joy to see members reconnect, share memories, and celebrate achievements both big and small.

I am deeply grateful for the effort, commitment, and positive spirit each member brought to the club. Your willingness to participate, support one another, and stay engaged created an environment where learning and personal growth could thrive.

Thank you for making 2025 such a special and inspiring year. I am proud to be your Psychology Club Advisor and look forward to continuing our journey together as we move through 2026 with the same sense of purpose, connection, and enthusiasm.

Reflections from DISTED BizSquad Club’s President: A Journey of Leadership and Growth

DISTED College Bizclub

Taking on the role of President of the BizSquad Club at DISTED College has been both an honour and a valuable learning experience. Since assuming this leadership position in March 2025, the journey has been filled with meaningful challenges, learning opportunities, and personal growth.

Working collaboratively with club members across various business-related initiatives and community service activities has strengthened my understanding of management practices, leadership dynamics, and human psychology. These hands-on experiences exposed members to real-world business challenges that go beyond theoretical learning, reinforcing the importance of adaptability and teamwork.

Leading a team of more than 20 committed members has further enhanced my leadership skills while also highlighting areas for continuous improvement. One of the key challenges we faced involved manpower shortages, particularly during examination periods and when members were balancing part-time employment. Despite these constraints, our team demonstrated strong commitment and responsibility by taking on additional roles and working closely together to ensure each activity was successfully executed.

These experiences reinforced an essential lesson: effective teamwork and mutual support are critical to overcoming obstacles and achieving shared goals. The resilience and cooperation shown by our members have been truly encouraging.

Looking ahead to 2026, the BizSquad Club aims to expand its range of business-related activities to further foster entrepreneurial thinking and practical skill development. Students who are eager to enhance their business knowledge, leadership abilities, and hands-on experience are warmly encouraged to be part of BizSquad’s growing community.

Reframing Teaching Excellence at DISTED College

At DISTED College, enhancing teaching excellence is not about increasing workload. It is about focusing on what truly matters. When educators feel valued, empowered, and aligned with institutional priorities, commitment and discretionary effort emerge naturally. Conversely, unclear expectations, limited pathways for growth, and irregular feedback can quietly affect motivation, even among highly capable lecturers.

The way forward lies in intentional and visible leadership. This approach prioritises continuous professional development, recognises innovative teaching practices, and fosters supportive environments where lecturers feel confident to reflect, experiment, and grow. Central to this perspective is the recognition of lecturers as learning architects who shape meaningful educational experiences, rather than as mere transmitters of content.

Educational quality flourishes in a culture that values collaboration, embeds feedback into everyday practice, and actively recognises excellence. Through peer observation and mentoring, DISTED College strengthens staff capability and enhances student learning outcomes.

As we enter 2026, this marks a year of renewed focus, collective responsibility, and sustained commitment to teaching excellence. Small, consistent improvements will continue to shape the lasting impact.
