Dear DISTED Community,\u00a0<\/p>

Our DISTED students continue to amaze me and build my pride for DISTED College\u00a0<\/p>

First our SACE students produced wonderful results for the results recently announced, a cohort that exceeded SACE global averages. My congratulations to our top scorers Gabriel Lee Jiawei (93.55), Cheah Jhia Ying (91.50), Mikeala Kaur (83.65) and Cheah Jhia Cyan (81.25) for the excellent ATAR scores.\u00a0<\/p>

Secondly, we had the first of our annual Student Representative Council Leader for them to share their plans since taking office in April 2026. They are\u00a0 Isabelle Yeoh, SRC President,\u00a0 Ng Jun Hao, SRC Deputy President,\u00a0 So Hee, SRC Head of Art & Creativity and\u00a0 Elizabeth Goei, SRC Vice Secretary.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

They were organized, determined, confident, creative, constructive, engaging and inclusive. The theme they have for 2026\/2027 is \u2018Engage and Interactive\u2019. They will be sharing their plans with DISTED Discourse.\u00a0<\/p>

DISTED College representatives recently\u00a0participated\u00a0in the Google x GSA Innovation Day held at the Google Kuala Lumpur office in Axiata Tower. The engagement formed part of DISTED College\u2019s ongoing collaboration with Google through Google Workspace for Education and served as an immersive introduction to Gemini for Education and the latest AI-driven innovations transforming higher education.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The day began with an introduction to Gemini for Education, highlighting its potential to streamline academic workflows, enhance teaching\u00a0delivery\u00a0and improve student engagement. Participants were also introduced to\u00a0NotebookLM, a tool that supports research by grounding AI outputs in curated academic sources, enabling deeper analysis and understanding.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Key sessions focused on \u201cInnovation in Practice\u201d and \u201cThe Modern Classroom,\u201d offering practical strategies for embedding AI technologies into existing curricula. Discussions also\u00a0emphasised\u00a0the importance of mastering safety and responsible AI use in an increasingly digital educational environment.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The experience concluded with a guided tour of the Google office, offering insights into a collaborative and\u00a0technology<\/span>\u2011driven\u00a0workplace that supports global innovation. This exposure provided a clearer understanding of how AI tools are strategically applied in\u00a0real<\/span>\u2011world\u00a0settings.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Overall, the session was an enriching professional learning experience that reinforced DISTED College\u2019s commitment to digital readiness. The study\u00a0visit\u00a0to Atlantic by Motion\u00a0In\u00a0Style provided students with a valuable opportunity to gain deeper insight into the professional production industry. By\u00a0observing\u00a0real<\/span>\u2011world\u00a0practices, students were able to develop a clearer understanding of how production work is executed beyond the classroom environment.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Throughout the visit, students were introduced to various aspects of media production, including wedding videography and commercial video creation. They explored the full production workflow, from\u00a0initial\u00a0concept planning and\u00a0pre<\/span>\u2011production\u00a0to filming and technical execution. This exposure allowed students to better understand industry standards, expectations and the level of precision\u00a0required\u00a0in professional media production.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

An important feature of the visit was the opportunity for practical engagement. Students were given the chance to interact with professional equipment and tools, enhancing their technical knowledge and\u00a0hands<\/span>\u2011on\u00a0skills. This direct experience reinforced theoretical concepts learned in class and provided a more holistic understanding of production work.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Overall, the visit to Atlantic by Motion\u00a0In\u00a0Style was an enriching educational experience. It highlighted the importance of both technical skill and creative thinking in media production, while motivating students to continue refining their abilities in preparation for future careers in the industry.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

DISTED College is proud to announce the excellent performance of our students in the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) Northern Hemisphere results for April 2026.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

We are pleased to share that all candidates successfully achieved an ATAR, a reflection of their hard work,\u00a0perseverance,\u00a0and academic commitment throughout their studies. The cohort\u00a0demonstrated\u00a0strong overall performance, with the highest ATAR recorded at 93.55 and the lowest at 78.15, highlighting consistent achievement across the group.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

          As part of the orientation programme for the latest student intake, the School of Computing and Engineering (SCE) and the\u00a0School of Communication,\u00a0Arts\u00a0and Multimedia\u00a0(SCM) organised an engaging\u00a0Human<\/span>\u2011Robot\u00a0activity designed to promote teamwork,\u00a0communication\u00a0and\u00a0problem<\/span>\u2011solving\u00a0skills. The participants included students from Diploma, Foundation,\u00a0SACE\u00a0and\u00a0A<\/span>\u2011Level\u00a0programmes, who experienced the activity within a dynamic treasure hunt setting.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

          In this interactive activity, students worked in groups where one member acted as a \u201crobot\u201d and was blindfolded, while the others took on the role of \u201cprogrammers.\u201d The robot could only move by following clear, logical,\u00a0step<\/span>\u2011by<\/span>\u2011step\u00a0instructions provided by the team. Participants guided their robot through a series of challenges, including cone mazes, balance paths,\u00a0cup<\/span>\u2011stacking\u00a0tasks and\u00a0hula<\/span>\u2011hoop\u00a0tunnels, requiring precision,\u00a0coordination\u00a0and effective communication.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

          The\u00a0Human<\/span>\u2011Robot\u00a0activity offered multiple learning benefits. It strengthened logical thinking and\u00a0problem<\/span>\u2011solving\u00a0skills by mirroring fundamental programming concepts, where precise instructions are essential. It also enhanced communication, as unclear directions could lead to errors and require teams to reset and refine their approach. In addition, the activity encouraged teamwork,\u00a0leadership\u00a0and confidence, fostering collaboration in a supportive and enjoyable environment.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

          Overall, the activity successfully combined experiential learning with engagement, helping new students ease into campus life while developing essential cognitive and interpersonal skills. It served as a meaningful introduction to the collaborative learning culture at DISTED College.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
