PROGRAMME STRUCTURE & COURSES

YEAR 1
ACCOUNTING & FINANCE

This module begins by introducing students the business transactions, sources of documents and accounting equations. It then continues to cover books of prime entry, double-entry bookkeeping systems, ledgers and bank reconciliation. The syllabus then finishes with the preparation of the trial balance and final accounts of a sole proprietor.

This course aims to deepen students’ understanding of essential accounting foundations, including control accounts, incomplete records, financial reporting for profit and nonprofit organizations, manufacturing accounts, and branch accounting. The curriculum also covers the preparation of financial statements for sole proprietors, incorporating year-end adjustments.

This course expands upon the fundamental accounting concepts previously studied, focusing on partnership accounting. This course also highlights the characteristics of companies, rights of shareholders, capital structure and finance costs. It then proceeds to the preparation of financial statements for companies in accordance with relevant accounting standards.

The module starts by introducing the nature and purpose of cost accounting, distinguishing it clearly from financial accounting.
It then covers cost classification and behaviour. This module then provides the basic techniques required to enable students to develop their knowledge of various costing methods. This module ends with marginal costing and cost-profit-volume analysis.
 
 
This module begins by introducing the student the nature, source and the purpose of management information.
It then continues on to cover forecasting, budgetary system, cost control and cost deduction, pricing decision, relevant costing and limiting factor analysis.
The syllabus then finishes with the introduction of specialist cost & management accounting techniques.
 
 
AUDIT & TAXATION

The paper introduces the student to the regulatory framework and then continues on to explain the process to perform an audit of historical financial statement from planning and risk assessment until the completion of audit and the issuance of the audit report.

This course first introduces students to the basic concepts of the individual tax system. It then continues on to cover the basic principles of partnership tax.

FINANCIAL TECHNOLOGY & DATA COMPETENCY
The syllabus begins with an overview of the computerized accounting system. It is followed by the creation of a new account book that contains the setup and transactional data for the company. This section mainly focuses on setting up the account list, or chart of accounts. The next section covers banking and cash management, recording journal entries, and setting up and managing purchases, sales, and inventory. Finally, the syllabus covers how to generate financial reports for users from the accounting software.
 
 
This course is designed to enable students to systematically collect, present, analyse and interpret data collected. This course examines the use of descriptive statistics, probability concepts and application of spreedsheet tools for statistical analysis. These skills are important for problem solving and effective decision making in an organization setting.

Kursus ini menawarkan kemahiran berbahasa dari aspek mendengar, bertutur, membaca dan menulis sesuai dengan tahap intelek pelajar. Tujuan kursus ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kecekapan berbahasa dalam konteks rasmi dan tidak rasmi. YEAR 2
ACCOUNTING & FINANCE

This course introduces the students to the financial reporting regulatory framework in Malaysia. This course also develops the knowledge and skills in applying professional judgement and estimates pertaining to property, plant and equipment, inventories, receivables and payables in preparing financial statements of the entity.

The course provides a general understanding of financial accounting theories and explores their relevance to both the theoretical development and the practice and regulation of financial accounting. The course also provides an understanding of the underlying ethical theories, and values in an individual, organizational, professional and social setting. The students will also study corporate social responsibility and creative accounting practices locally and internationally.

This course lays the foundation for future in-depth study of financial management. Students are exposed to topics such as roles played by the finance manager, time value of money, capital budgeting, cost of capital, working capital management, dividend policies and long term financing. The course has recently been updated to include the latest developments in finance like FINTECH.

This module begins by introducing the principles of standard costing and variance analysis which is an essential tool for planning and controlling the business costs. It covers the calculation of cost and sales variances and the interpretation of the variances. The syllabus then proceeds with performance measurement and control by using financial and non-financial performance measures and transfer pricing. The syllabus finishes with the introduction of various methods of bringing uncertainty and risk analysis into the evaluation of decisions.
 
 
 
FINANCIAL TECHNOLOGY & DATA COMPETENCY
This course covers key terminology, the types of information that businesses require, and the business procedures involved in generating that information. This section will provide a clarification of what an accounting information system (AIS) is, how it benefits a company, how it interacts with corporate strategy, and how it fits into the value chain. The goal of this course is to provide accounting graduates with sub-professional training in the fields of information systems and accountancy.

This course introduces students to the principles and applications of financial technology (fintech). Students will explore how fintech innovations are transforming traditional financial services and will learn on its impact in financial accounting practices, regulation and compliance matters.

ENTERPRISE & ECONOMIC INSIGHT

This course will provide general understanding of macroeconomic concepts, principles and theories and its application to major economic issues and institutions. Students will have critical understanding of the environment which set the operation of the enterprise within the wider context of a macro-economy, and an active political environment.

Corporate Law covers the formation, management, and regulation of companies. It focuses on key concepts such as corporate personality, directors’ duties, shareholders’ rights, and corporate governance. Students learn the legal implications of corporate decision-making and the statutory requirements companies must meet under the Companies Act 2016. The course also explores mergers, acquisitions, and winding up procedures.

This course provides broad based and balanced coverage of both the business and technology elements of e-commerce. This course presents concepts and skills for the strategic use of e-commerce and related information system technologies. Provides a framework for the analysis of e-commerce solutions to issues surrounding business-to-business, business to consumers, and intra-organizational trade. This course will allow the learners to gain an understanding of how to design, implement, administer and maintain e-Commerce applications.

SKILLS FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

This course is intended to increase students’ proficiency in English language for academic purpose, focusing on all the four skills ; reading, writing, speaking and listening. Using integrated approach, other important linguistic areas such as grammar and vocabulary are included strategically. Authentic reading material are drawn from academic, environment, socially controversial issues and also from the corporate world. This course serves as a foundation for developing higher level of reading, writing and listening skills as well as preparing students for language proficiency tests such as the IELTS/PTE.

This course is conducted by involving students into community services and curricular activities. The activities and projects associated with this course will be fully conducted by students under the lecturer’s supervision. The lecturers are also responsible in awarding marks as well as approving the related activities and projects. The students have the opportunity to master the soft skills such as communication, critical thinking, problem solving, teamwork, continuous learning and information management as well as entrepreneurial and technical skills.

This course covers the basic concept of corruption, including the value of integrity, anti-corruption, forms of corruption, abuse of power in daily activities and organisations, as well as ways to prevent corruption. Cases related to corruption are discussed. Teaching and learning methods are implemented in the form of ‘experiential learning’ through individual and group activities. At the end of this course, students will be able to understand the practise of integrity, the concept of corruption, anti-corruption, abuse of power, and the prevention of corruption in society and organisations.

This course covers the relation between philosophy, the National Education Philosophy and ‘Rukun Negara’. Philosophy is used as a tool to refine the culture of thought in life through the art and methods of thinking as well as through our understanding of the concept of the human. The main topics in philosophy, namely epistemology, metaphysics and logic are discussed in the context of current issues. Emphasis is given to philosophy as the basis for inter-cultural dialogue and to foster common values. At the end of this course, students will be able to see the disciplines of study as a comprehensive and integrated body of knowledge.
