What happens before the ceremony starts?

Time of Arrival

You are required to arrive at the venue at 7.45 a.m. sharp. You are required to register at the Reception Desk and obtain your seat number.

Robing

After registration, you are to proceed to the Robing room: Anggerik & Cempaka to collect your academic gown (for degree students). DISTED staff will be there to assist you in dressing up.

Rehearsal

After robing, you have to proceed to the grand ballroom for a rehearsal. Follow the instruction of the conductor carefully.

Use of Restroom

If you need to use the Rest Room, do so immediately after the rehearsal and you must return to the grand ballroom at no later than 9.30 a.m.


What happens during the ceremony?

All to remain quiet. The ceremony will begin when the academic procession enters the ballroom to the sound of the processional music.

All graduates and guests should stand until the stage party is seated.

A speech will be given by the Guest-of-Honour as well as DISTED’s President.

The Emcee will then announce the presentation of the awards. At the direction of the Marshall, each row of graduates will stand and proceed to line up at the side of the stage.

Proceed onto the stage accordingly. Shake hands with the Guest of Honour Receive your certificate  and say your ‘Thank you’. Pause for photograph. Step down from stage and follow the Marshall back to your seat.

Two graduates; each from the diploma and degree programs will deliver a Response on behalf of all graduates in the convocation ceremony.

After the Response, all is to remain seated.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Academic Procession will leave the stage.

The new graduates will REMAIN in the ballroom and the photographer will make arrangement for formal photo session. PLEASE FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY so that photos can be taken efficiently and for you to join your family and friends as soon as possible for refreshments.


How long is the ceremony?

The ceremony will take approximately one-and-half (1.5) hours.

Refreshments will be served after the conclusion of the ceremony for graduands, parents and paid guests.


Can children attend the ceremony?

Please note that young children may find the formality and duration of the ceremony somewhat demanding and they will become unsettled, disruptive or noisy.  As such, children below the age of 12 years will NOT be allowed to be in the grand ballroom. Those who are eligible to enter must purchase a ticket which is non-transferable nor refundable.


What must I do after the ceremony/coffee break?

You are required to return the gown at the Robing room and collect your scroll.

Car parking – RM8.00 flat rate (according to venue’s charges). You may pay your ticket upon entering the car park.


Can we collect the gown earlier and go to the photo studio?

You need not do that because a professional photographer has been engaged to be of service during the event.

Photo service with family and friends are available and can be purchased in the form of various photo package at the venue.  Please refer to the flyer for the packages available.
