11 high achievers receive President’s Scholar Award

On April 20, 11 high achievers were rewarded with President’s Scholar Award for their excellent and outstanding performances both academically and in curriculum activities.

President Dr Seah Soo Aun honoured the 11 students during the recent ceremony by presenting them with their certificates of achievement. Students who obtained a GPA of 3.4 points and above and enrolled in a minimum of 15 credits for long semester and 6 credits for short semester shall be awarded with the scholarship, which will also offer them tuition fee waiver.

The scholarship recipients include:

  1. Buveindran A/L Poovalai Ravinthiran – Diploma in Creative Multimedia Production
  2. Ng Zhai Sin – Diploma in Computer Science
  3. Lee Huei Theng – Diploma in Hospitality Business Management
  4. Chew Poay Ling – Diploma in Accounting
  5. Khor Zhi Yin – Diploma in Business Studies
  6. Shannon Benjamin Sim Shang-Yue – BA (Hons) in Business Information Systems Management, in collaboration with Staffordshire University
  7. Nicole Khoo Shu Er – BA (Hons) in Accounting & Finance, in collaboration with Staffordshire University
  8. Koh Hui Ling – BA (Hons) in Business Management, in collaboration with Staffordshire University
  9. Lee Zi Huan – BA (Hons) in International Business Management, in collaboration with Staffordshire University
  10. Wong Shu Wen – BA (Hons) in Marketing Management, in collaboration with Staffordshire University
  11. Jasniza Binti Johari – Bachelor of Psychology (Hons), in collaboration with HELP University

Nicole Khoo Shu Er, who is currently pursuing Staffordshire University’s Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Accounting & Finance degree programme at our campus, felt honoured and grateful to being awarded with the scholarship.

“I want to thank DISTED College for offering this scholarship, which can lighten up my financial burden,” she said before receiving the award.

Another recipient, Wong Shu Wen, a Staffordshire University’s Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Marketing Management student felt that being a recipient of this scholarship have given her encouragement to strive for future success.

“I’m really delighted to have been chosen as a recipient of the President’s Scholar, with this serving as an encouragement for me to continue pursuing for more success,” she said.

Jasniza Binti Johari, who is pursuing her Bachelor of Psychology (Hons) HELP University degree programme, highlighted the need for students to put in extra effort in their studies.

She said, “I’m grateful for the opportunity to receive this award. My word of advise for future applicants – work hard and eventually, you will be rewarded for all your efforts.”
