DISTED College Inks Pioneering Memorandum of Agreement With Japan’s Leading Toyohashi University of Technology
The signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between DISTED College and Toyohashi University of Technology took place on 18th December 2016 at the Yeap Chor Ee Heritage Campus at DISTED College in Penang.
Dr Seah Soo Aun, President and CEO of DISTED College and Dr Takashi Onishi, President of Toyohashi University of Technology and the Science Council of Japan initiated the agreement respectively.
Other distinguished guests witnessing the MOA signing included Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon, as Chairman of Wawasan Education Foundation and Pro-Chancellor of Wawasan Open University. Also in attendance was DISTED College’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, Datuk Seri Stephen Yeap, as well as industry and academic leaders.
“The MOA provides prospective students from DISTED’s School of Computing and Engineering diploma programme a direct articulation option to Japan’s distinguish Toyohashi University of Technology and many other Japanese universities to earn a bachelor’s degree,” Dr Seah said during his speech.
“More specifically, it’s the first of such transfer programme between a Malaysian private institution of higher learning and a Japanese university and is opened to all Malaysian and international students who wish to pursue their studies in the field of Computing and Electronic Engineering and earn an undergraduate or even a postgraduate qualification in Japan,” he continued.
Students under this DISTED Japanese Transfer Programme will complete their 3-year Diploma in Computer Science or Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering to articulate in to Toyohashi University’s computing or electronic engineering degree programme. Students will embark on two (2) more years to complete the programme in Japan.
In addition to that, DISTED will establish a DISTED Scholarship and Bursary Award fund to further encourage prospective students to pursue this prestigious programme at DISTED College.
