When i am at my hostel, there is a India mixed Chinese guy who just moved in in the month of August. I know him after a few days and to my surprise, he smokes. A habit which I particularly hated the most. Anyway, what can I do??

Looking at the big picture, in today’s modern and well-developed millennium, we lived in a civilized world and we enjoy life. Mankind expects more in whatever they are doing including the forms of entertainment in order to achieve satisfaction. I think we human take granted on it. As we know, cigarettes were invented years back as a form of relaxation involving the sucking of smokes through burning cigarettes straight to your lungs and is release out again afterward. It just don’t makes any sense tb o me.. How can sucking black smokes be a kind of entertainment?? but the fact is that today, smoking has evolved to a culture in the modern world and it is said to be more thrilling, more exhilarating to people in the 21th century.

Ironically, the statistic of the number of smokers continue to climb sky high.. No matters people of any ages, from students, working adults to senior citizen; of any gender, male or female, more and more people continue to involve in such habit. Many questions have arise about the danger brought about by this activity. Even the scientists of yesterday and today have done research on the effects of smoking to one’s health. It is proven in so many ways that smoking seriously damages not only the smoker’s health but also the health of the people around smokers.

Cigerettes and more specifically tobacco smoke are full of chemicals and poison. Tobacco smoke contains over 4,000 chemicals, many of which make smoking harmful.Even though cigarettes manufacturer claim that the percentage of those substances is low, but it is undenieble that if consumed in a long period, our body will eventually suffer its consequences. The mixture of nicotine and carbon monoxide you smoke in every cigerette will temporarily increases your heart rate and blood pressure, straining your heart and constricting the blood vessel. This can cause heart attack and stroke. It slows your blood flow, cutting down the amount of oxygen provided to your hand and feet. Some smokers end up having their limbs amputated. Moreover, tar coats your lungs like soot in a chimney and is carcinogenic.Maybe some may think that changing to low-tar cigarettes will make a difference but unfortunately it does not because smokers will tend to take a deeper puff and hold the smoke in for longer, dragging the tar deeper in your lungs. Smoking causes disease and is a slow way to die. The strain put on your body by smoking often causes years of suffering. Emphysema is an illness that slowly rots your lungs. People with emphysema often get bronchitis again and again, and suffer lung and heart failure.
