DISTED College & LiFE Academy inks Memorandum of Understanding with PCA

The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between LiFE Academy and DISTED College, and the Penang Chefs Association (PCA) took place at the Heritage Club, Penang in conjunction with the International Chef Day 2017 on October 20, 2017.

This year’s International Chef Day, which is recognised annually on 20th October, is celebrated with the theme “Food for Healthy Heroes”.  This year the Penang Chefs Association is hosting and sponsoring healthy and wholesome meals to some 120 children at the Heritage Club. It is on the this auspicious day that Dr Seah Soo Aun, President and CEO of DISTED College and Chef Audee Cheah, President of the Penang Chefs Association will both initiate this agreement.

This first-of-its-kind MoU between the Penang Chefs Association and a renowned tertiary institution clearly reflects the industry’s recognition of LiFE Academy and DISTED’s strength in the field of culinary and hospitality management. PCA, through its extensive experience in the field of professional culinary, will provide industry-relevant review and input into the academic syllabus, as well as continuing and professional development courses offered through DISTED and LiFE Academy.

With this MoU, the PCA will now come together with DISTED’s 5-Star accredited School of Hospitality Management’s to endorse and recognise its academic diploma programmes in food and beverage as well as hospitality management.  On top of that, the PCA will work with DISTED’s LiFE Academy to accredit its professional and short-courses in culinary, bakery and kitchen management, amongst others.

Dr. Seah extended his appreciation to the PCA and Chef Audee, and believes that PCA through its strong leadership and extensive network will offer DISTED and LiFE Academy’s students the opportunity to learn and share experiences with many local and internationally-renowned chefs. This, he believes, is the platform that allows today’s youth to lock in their interests in the field of hospitality and culinary as young and talented chefs, as well as allow many professionals in this industry to hone and pursue professional up skilling and accreditation.
