Fair on Overseas Education held at DISTED College

The education fair took place at DISTED College was organised by ASA Overseas Education Specialist on 28 Sept. Participating overseas higher learning institutions include Deakin University, Australia, University of Essex, UK, The City College of New York, USA and many more other globally recognised universities across Australia, UK and USA.

This was the fair where students discovered the study pathway into top universities and all the benefits of studying abroad. There were free popcorn and cotton candy provided and free ice cream chat group sessions. The education fair was free and open to students of all disciplines.

DISTED Career Fair 2017

The School of Business and Administration hosted DISTED career fair on-campus on 28 Sept. The fair

The career fair was sponsored by gradmalaysia, OSC Wealth and hireNow.

Participating companies included Resort World Genting, BOSCH, Jabil, Sime Darby Industry and many more.

In attendance for the career fair were DISTED’s CEO and President Dr Seah Soo Aun and guest speaker Ms Boonsiri Somchit.

Dr Seah Soo Aun was invited to officiate the career fair. In his opening remarks, Dr Seah said 90% of DISTED’s students found employment 6 months after graduation.

Dr Seah also mentioned as Penang’s first private not-for-profit institution of higher learning, DISTED has groomed more than 10,000 young and talented professionals and has given them the foundation to become a productive member of society.

Guest speaker Ms Boonsiri Somchit was invited to give a talk about leadership. Ms Somchit is a world-class leader in Global Business Service (GBS), she has 18 years of finance and accounting experiences.

She’s also the co-founder of Xtrategize as well as the brand ambassador if the Chartered Institute of Management Accountant Malaysia.

Ms Somchit introduced her first book, the “When The Chicken Dies. Everyone Cries” during the career fair. The book is about leadership wisdom and her insights to leadership, life and dealing with various career challenges.

This was the fair for participated companies that have internships, full-time jobs and part-time jobs. Students of all disciplines are encouraged to attend the event and be familiarised with companies’ requirements and expectation and be prepared when they begin looking for jobs and internships.

 

  

DISTED Teddy Project

The School of Pre-University organised its annual community project, Teddy Project, on 24th September 2017 at Kawasan Rukun Tetangga Jalan Hijau Lima. The objectives of this project are to spread happiness and joy to the less fortunate children of Batu Lanchang Government low-cost flats.

Dr Jerry Koay, DISTED’s Director of Academic Affairs attended the function representing the President of Disted College.

Datin Helen Lim from School of Pre-University donated the refurbished soft toys while the gift packs were donated by DISTED College.

Mr & Mrs Kumar, the parents of Yuhashinee, donated chocolate wafers as prizes for the aeroplane flying event.

The event was also attended by Mr Michael Tan, the Chairman of Kawasan Rukun Tetangga Jalan Hijau Lima and its vice-chairman, En Jaafar. Both of them encouraged the children of the flats to participate in the event.

During the event, light refreshments were served by committee members of the KRT, helped by our students.

Games organised by School of Pre-U students were participated enthusiastically by the children and their accompanying family members.

It was a day of great fun and good interaction among everyone present.
