Academic staff from three prestigious Japanese universities namely Toyohashi University of Technology, Nagaoka University of Technology and National Institute of Technology attended the English Holiday Camp organised by Life Academy at DISTED College providing them the opportunity to practice their English through a fun and enjoyable way.
Since 1987, #DISTEDCollege has been successfully conducting the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE International) programme, and has also been constantly producing top achievers throughout the years.
This year, DISTED has produce yet another batch of top achievers from the 2016 #SACEInternational
examinations, and hence would like to congratulate them on their success!
In January 2016, Lim Hong Zhec, a former student of SMJK Jit Sin of Bukit Mertajam, joined #DISTEDCollege‘s SACE International programme with a view to pursue his further studies in a recognised undergraduate programme upon completion of his pre-university studies.
Now, not only have Lim completed his studies in the #SACEInternational programme, but he has also emerged as the best among the 2016 top achievers. With an ATAR score of 95.40, Lim is also the receipient of a subject merit award for his exceptional performance in the Specialist Mathematics subject.
DISTED College Inks Pioneering Memorandum of Agreement With Japan’s Leading Toyohashi University of Technology
The signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between DISTED College and Toyohashi University of Technology took place on 18th December 2016 at the Yeap Chor Ee Heritage Campus at DISTED College in Penang.
Dr Seah Soo Aun, President and CEO of DISTED College and Dr Takashi Onishi, President of Toyohashi University of Technology and the Science Council of Japan initiated the agreement respectively.
Other distinguished guests witnessing the MOA signing included Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon, as Chairman of Wawasan Education Foundation and Pro-Chancellor of Wawasan Open University. Also in attendance was DISTED College’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, Datuk Seri Stephen Yeap, as well as industry and academic leaders.
“The MOA provides prospective students from DISTED’s School of Computing and Engineering diploma programme a direct articulation option to Japan’s distinguish Toyohashi University of Technology and many other Japanese universities to earn a bachelor’s degree,” Dr Seah said during his speech.
“More specifically, it’s the first of such transfer programme between a Malaysian private institution of higher learning and a Japanese university and is opened to all Malaysian and international students who wish to pursue their studies in the field of Computing and Electronic Engineering and earn an undergraduate or even a postgraduate qualification in Japan,” he continued.
Students under this DISTED Japanese Transfer Programme will complete their 3-year Diploma in Computer Science or Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering to articulate in to Toyohashi University’s computing or electronic engineering degree programme. Students will embark on two (2) more years to complete the programme in Japan.
In addition to that, DISTED will establish a DISTED Scholarship and Bursary Award fund to further encourage prospective students to pursue this prestigious programme at DISTED College.
As another year has come to the end and for a fresh new start in 2017, the college has appointed two (2) new canteen operators, Jibrinnoor (M) Sdn Bhd is replacing Jom Makan Café and M&Y Lim Enterprise to take over Kopitiam.
The newly appointed canteen operators had gone through the college’s open tender system that involves scrutinising and evaluation process to ensure total compliance with the college canteen rules and regulations to supply healthy food to students.
ver 40 students of SMK Convent Taiping had the opportunity to develop their knowledge on leadership during the Leadership & Morality Workshop at #DISTEDCollege as they visited the College on 29th November.
#DISTED had also made these girls’ visit a memorable one with a specially organised and guided-tour around the George Town World Heritage Site. During the tour, the students were being introduced to the various Penang street arts and also some local Penang delicacies.
Lim Hong Zhec, a student who is currently pursuing further studies in the SACE International programme at #DISTEDCollege, has participated in the recent National Olympiad Maths 2016 competition.
